Really, it's ok to let go.

I gained Friday (granted it was the first WI since the conference, so 2 weeks since last WI). I'm under the impression my body just does not want to let go of the pounds.

Ok, I know that's silly. I know the mistakes I made:

1. I didn't get all the 8hg's in everyday.
2. I went over points
3. I consumed oh so delicious chocolate...like Reese pieces and fudge. I counted it all. But refer to point #2.

Things I did right...
1. Worked out at least 5 days this week.
2. I started The Shred again and have stuck with it. On Level 1 Day 4.
3. I consumed all the recommended water I should everyday.
4. I restricted my self to drinking 1 glass of red wine a total of 2 nights.

Another up beat happening:

I had a great NSV last night. The boyfriend and I went to Olive Garden for supper. I got the salad with dressing on the side (I forgot that they do have low-fat dressing). I ate 2 tablespoons of the regular dressing between 2 bowls of salad. I ate 1/2 a breadstick. A HALF!! I used to consume as many as I possibly could. I got whole wheat linguini (sp?) with marinara sauce. Ate HALF of it and put the rest in a box. I was so amazed at myself. I think that's a time I'll always remember and reflect back on what will power I had. Seriously, I didn't know I could do that. It felt so good to walk out of there full, but not stuffed knowing what great choices I'd just made.

That NSV projected me into this week. I've counted everything thus far. I am having a few beers tonight while watching the Yankees game, but I already went to the gym and continued on with the Shred today. I've got great motivation as of now. I hope I keep it going all week and get a great reflection on the scale :-D

Report Card

My report card for the conference:

Worked out: 1/2 times
Drank: 1/3 times! Yes!
Made good food choices: 6/10 meals

So, I'd give myself a grade of C. A lot better then I would have done 1 year or so ago.

I only worked out once. I set my alarm the other morning, but just didn't get up. I drank some red wine 1 evening with supper that was provided for us. Nothing outrageious. More than one serving, but not like I drank a whole bottle haha I made good choices for every breakfast (4 of them) and 2 lunches. Supper was always bad. I ordered room service for 1 lunch and 2 suppers. None were great choices (and twice included fries). Another supper was provided by the company at a restaurant that's family style. The choices included: Chicken Parm, Baked Ziti, Fried Asparagus, Garlic Bread, oh and steamed broccoli (like it makes up for everything else). Needless to say, it was like trying to restrain a kid in a candy store.

I got back in Friday afternoon and immediately drove up to WV and see my mom :-D It was such a great, needed weekend. The really, really bad meal was Sunday morning before I left. We went to a breakfast bar, which is just set up for disaster. Anyway, I tracked Tues-Thursday afternoon. Then I didn't track again until yesterday morning. I didn't weigh myself Friday either. So, I'm sticking with the below stated weight from last week until this Friday.

I did go to the gym last night as promised to myself. I'm going tonight as well. I've been OP yesterday and all day today. Yes!

A little off for some meals, but I'm right back on. It's really a meal-to-meal challenge. This week is going to be conquered though :-)

The Conference

Today made the 5th day in a row I've worked out. I'm finally back on that wagon. Last post my mental state was back. Now I think my physical state is finally catching up.

I leave tomorrow for a work conference and fly back Friday morning. I'm going prepared with work out clothes and running shoes. We're going to Jersey City, which apparently is right across the Hudson from Manhattan. I hope I get a city view room ;-)

Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking advantage of the gym at the hotel. I always thought it was weird having a gym in a hotel before now. My thinking was, you're in a hotel which more than likely means you're supposed to be relaxing and having a nice time. This week, I'm going to be 'that' person using the gym early in the morning.

I'm also not going to drink as much (if any) like I usually do on these business trips. My company likes to have a good time. Staying out til 1-2 and making it to meetings by 8am. Right. Not this time. I learned my lesson last conference. Ouch.

So the goals:

- Work out Wed, Thurs, and hopefully Friday mornings before the meetings/flying back
- Do not drink as much (if any)
- And as always, make healthy, wise food choices at every meal.

K, wish me luck :-D

Long Over Due

Sooo, it's been over a month. Actually a month and a half. Oops.

A few things have changed. I moved across town to a much nicer area. A 2-minute commute is amazing, FYI. I went on a much needed week long vacation with the boyfriend. We went to New Jersey (where he's from) and had a great time. I want to go back!

And another thing that's changed is I haven't been to a meeting in over a month. Before the yelling begins, please take into consideration the fore mentioned changes that were going on during the hiatus. :-D

I am back to it though! Yesterday, I bought the mack-daddy WW scale. Tells your weight (obviously), bone mass, water something-er-other, body fat %, and the BS BMI. I was impressed and since I forked out money for it, I decided to switch to online only. I never make it to meetings any more. This past week, I've been OP, working out, measuring things (for the most part), and getting nearly all my 8GH'S. So, I'm going to online.

BTW, the gym in my apartment complex is bitchin'! There's a cardio room, weight machine room, and stretching/aerobics room. And tonight I wondered into the ladies room to discover a sauna! I'm in the process of making waking up before work and going to the gym a habit. Wake up @ 5am-ish, go for at least 30 minutes, sometimes 45 depending, and make it to work by 7:30. I'm actually proud of myself.

This week's WI (on the brand spankin' new scale) 198.9! Ah, feels so good to be back!

Learned my lesson...sort of

I weighed in Thursday evening and was down 1.6lbs despite the ridiculous weekend I had (see below post). I had great motivation after that. I was great yesterday during the work day, but went to the bar after work to get a beer. Of course it didn't turn out to be just one beer. However, I DID count everything I put in my mouth. And while I was there, I didn't have a glorious wrap with ranch sauce. Instead, I chose a chicken salad, without cheese, and balsamic dressing. And it was surprisingly yummy. I felt great about my choice and had 3 margarita's after that, but like I said I counted everything, of course dipping into weeklies.

Today, woke up a little so-so, but not terrible. Went to the bagel store we always go to on the weekends, but instead of my sausage, egg, cheese on an everything bagel I had egg whites on a honey wheat. It was surprisingly good, too. Tonight, we grill! I'm already fantasizing about the veggies!

So in the end, although I did go a little (or way) nuts on drinks last night, I counted everything, ate decent the day after, and don't feel guilty about my choices. That's a step in the right direction in my mind!

Disappointed

I was not good this weekend. Not good at all. I started out with great intentions.

Friday: Nine Inch Nails/Jane's Addiction Concert. I was on track all day. Stopped and got a 6-pack of Bud-Light for tailgating after work, went through Chick-Fil-A for a grilled sandwich and fruit cup. After Chick-Fil-A and pre-beer, I had 5 points to spare plus weeklies. Unfortunately, the beer didn't stop after the 6-pack. Inside the concert, I got a beer (like a 16 or 24 oz'er). The lady thought I said 2, so I was double fisting. Before Jane's Addiction....ANOTHER beer. So, tally is 3 large beers, plus the 6-pack. After the concert, we went to a bar/restaurant we always hang out at. I got a terrible (but so good at the time) chicken wrap with ranch sauce...and fries. PLUS a bloody mary and a margarita. O.M.G. I went crazy. I was too embarrassed to even count every single point.

Saturday: I was great all day. Drank tons of water for obvious reasons, ate egg whites, stayed within points. We went Uptown Saturday evening, ate at a pizzeria - I had a grilled portabella mushroom salad with balsamic dressing. The dressing tasted too good to be alright though. Went to a bar, had 1 beer. Went to the movies - no popcorn. Was on a roll...Then we went to a bar after the movie. And the cover band was great. And the crowd was great. And 3-4-5 too many drinks were great. I have no self control with drinks. At all. I tried to count all of the drinks I could remember. No binge eating though.

Sunday: I felt like crap after 2 nights of drinking (since being out of practice from college) and what did I eat? Not only Burger King chicken straws with fries, BUT! Also 4 pieces from a large, extra pepperoni STUFFED CRUST pizza from Pizza Hut. WTF?! I did count all of that.

The last time I 'failed' at WW, it was because of partying. Not just the drinks themselves, but the awful food I succumbed to during and after drinking. A topic that was discussed on the WW 20-something's board last week was, how in the world did I only gain ___ lbs during college, when after 1 night of partying, I gain 5lbs?! SO true.

This was my first weekend/week back to WW after a 2.5 month hiatus and I am currently -8 in weeklies with only 3 AP's. I wish I was excited about my first WI. That decent sized drop in weight due to it being your 1st week back. I'm petrified.

But I am going. I am facing the scale. I am going to succeed no matter how many setbacks I encounter.
